IT'S HOLIDAY TIME! HOW WELL ARE MAJOR RETAIL WEB SITES PREPARED FOR THE RUSH?
ALERTSITE TRACKING HOLIDAY ONLINE RETAIL WEB SITE PERFORMANCE
COCONUT CREEK, FL - November 14, 2005 - AlertSite, a leading provider of web performance measurement, systems monitoring and security vulnerability scanning services, today announced they will be tracking 20 of the top Internet retail sites through the holidays. This holiday season, according to Forrester Research, Inc., will include a 25% increase in sales over last year, with U.S. online retail sales through the holiday reaching $18 billion.
Between November 23-December 31, 2005, AlertSite will monitor and publish home page response times and availability for retailers such as Amazon.com, eBay, Wal-Mart, BestBuy and Toys-R-Us. The report will be available at www.alertsite.com/holiday_tracking.shtml, providing results for the previous day, and the holiday season-to-date. The AlertSite Holiday Tracking report measures from six locations throughout the U.S. with measurements performed every 15 minutes between the hours of 6 a.m. and midnight EST, 7 days-a-week.
Research recently conducted by Retail Forward, a Columbus, Ohio-based market research firm, indicates that most primary household shoppers will use online sites to browse for gifts and two-thirds of these online holiday shoppers plan to buy some gifts online this year. Despite tremendous improvements in the online shopping experience during the past few years, customers consistently report having been frustrated by their online shopping experiences in the past six months, according to the Retail Forward survey.
"With the holiday shopping season playing such a significant role in annual online sales, retailers need to proactively monitor the end-user experience to ensure their virtual storefront is not sending their customers elsewhere," said Ken Gross, CEO and co-founder of AlertSite.
